Income
Requirements:
Aid and
Attendance Pension is a NEEDS BASED PROGRAM. Eligibility is
financially based upon income, assets, and unreimbursed medical expenses.
Factors considered:
1)
The claimant's annual Gross income for all sources are totaled.
2)
Total the prospective annual medical expenses and subtract the appropriate deductible from this projected expense.
3)
Subtract the medical expense from the gross income figure and the resulting
number is called countable income.
4)
Lastly, subtract the countable income from your rate category to determine the
entitlement.
Disability
Requirements:
Veterans
must be age 65 to qualify or must be disabled to qualify for basic pension
entitlements. Loss of ADL's, disabilities, and serious
medical conditions merit higher awards proportional to the level of need.
Veterans widows do not have to be disabled or reached the
age of 65 to begin drawing the basic pension entitlement. As with the
Veteran, higher amounts are awarded based on disability level.
